“Design creates culture. Culture shapes values. Values determine the future”… Robert L. Peters

Design has the ability to influence our world for the better. Creating spaces that make a positive impact on ones emotions and needs as well as being sustainably built allows for positive growth. With a background in History and Art History, Megan grew up immersing herself in different eras and cultures around the world. Her love of architectural history and her creative drive guided her to Winthrop’s Interior Design Program. As an emerging designer, Megan is passionate about creating environments that break the boundaries of design. To her, function and aesthetic go hand in hand when creating a space – she wants the user to have a memorable experience that leaves them energized and inspired. Her bold sense of style allows her to think outside of the box creating a space that is truly unlike any other. Her hope is to grow her unique outlook on design in the commercial world and be able to contribute to buildings and spaces that will last through the ages like that of Brunelleschi and Victor Horta.

“Design is not just how it looks, design is how it works.”-Steve Jobs

As a designer, Kailey believes that a space should be functional to serve its intended purpose, but it should also be designed for the intended user as well. She believes that a well-designed space can be beautiful, but it’s priority should be placed on how the occupants will use the space. As a designer, Kailey believes that evidence-based designs are the spaces that stand out from others. The reasoning behind a design has a huge impact on how the occupants use the space and how the space affects the emotions and mentality of the occupants. As a designer, Kailey strives to have the functionality of a good space, while making the space a pleasurable and beautiful space to function in.

“The life of a designer is a life of fight: fight against the ugliness.” ― Massimo Vignelli

Born and raised in a small, mid-coast town in Maine, Abbie grew up watching her dad in his workshop and on the jobsite for his construction business. She discovered her love for design at a young age through his example as well as her obsession of building houses on a computer game - The Sims.

Abbie is a dedicated and inspired designer who loves exploring the wonders of architecture and design through travel. She strives to bring color and personality to her designs and place a twist on tradition.

Her design philosophy identifies great design as an experience not only in aesthetics but more importantly, function; Aesthetics hold no value if the functionality of the design is flawed.

Upon graduation, Abbie hopes to expand her creativity into hospitality design where she can inspire and improve the lives of others.

Victoria Waddington believes that design should facilitate and fuel the best lives people want to live every day. Designers have a responsibility to provide function, efficiency, and shape to the world around them. People’s homes, where they work, play, and every space in between, all become significant parts of an individual’s life. These spaces are the foundation of their memories and, in turn, shape who they are. Spaces gain their relevance from the experiences shared in them but providing an environment for those memories to grow is something Victoria is honored to share with the world.
